OUR HISTORY & STORY
SIVRRC is established by Ahmad Jawaid Sarhal, Massihullah Mahboob & Nazimuddin Hakimi in 2021. They themselves are honoraria of Special Immigrant Visa, becoming first generation immigrants in Sacramento, California. As head of their households responsible for starting new lives for themselves and their children they have faced a midst of difficulties and challenges presented to new comers in a totally strange society and facing a new way of life. Experience taught them to become prominent community activists and successful entrepreneurs. They jointly started advocating for helping the growing number of their countryman SIV recipients from Afghanistan by raising awareness among them voluntarily. In the process, they realized that there was a tremendous need for assistance and resources with talented individuals to create the entity they envisioned. Thus, they decided to start SIVRRC organization to open its first office in Sacramento, California. Since the idea initially evolved, SIVRRC enthusiasm and support from the community has grown significantly making it a reality. SIVRRC’s model emphasizes building highly personalized, high-quality one-on-one approaches that provide an alternative to failures in meeting challenges to new way of life.
SIVRRC seeks to provide a choice to immigrant families and communities they live in that would otherwise not have access to high quality services, particularly in communities where more immigrants are attracted to and usually are considered of the low-income segment of the society. To date, SIVRRC has had meetings with government and elected officials of greater Sacramento where there is great demand for public assistance. They have created a network of interested individuals and entities supporting their efforts and promising help when needed. Immigrants support and feedback is impressive – a good number of SIV recipients from Afghanistan applaud such efforts. SIV recipients rate their success in integrating in the community to be less troublesome should they receive initial assistance, which is crucial in the first years of their new lives. A majorly of SIV recipients residing in Sacramento area express satisfaction with the extent of help they received and they would be vital to all newcomers. Even more impressive are the gains achieved by immigrants who received such help.
Immigrants who were helped by resettlement agencies gained self-sufficiency 18 months earlier than those who did not. The gains placed both immigrants and the communities they lived in as partners sharing and contributing to the growth of their economy and a more prosperous future. Values, collaboration, and collective action to accomplish more than what is possible alone represents ownership of community efforts by individual’s and group’s responsibility for results, actions and decisions. Commitment to excellence and the discipline to continually improve customer service in way responsiveness to the needs of external and internal customer creates a sense of purposefulness. Deliberate action, focused on the organization’s goals and priorities, provide protection for its brand and create a theme for new way of life. Economics performance is the cornerstone of California's growth; accountable for establishing leading role for the State of California and maintaining it through an aware workforce providing fresh lifelines contributed by diverse immigrant population.
